Summary of the event - 

On August 29th, 2020, KV II Kalpakkam conducted the Annual National Sports Day Celebration 2020 in memory of the birth anniversary of Indian legendary Hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand. Keeping in mind the restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this event was conducted online, through Google meet, which was streamed on YouTube at the same time.  This event was open to all students, teachers, and the public for viewing. 

                      The event started at 9 am. Teachers, Students, principal, and the special invitees of the program were present during the inauguration. After the invocation song was played, Mrs. Meghalatha Nagaraj TGT P&HE started the program by her presentation that highlighted the importance of sports and games in daily life. It was accompanied by a special address by the invitees of the program – Members of the Master India Hockey team. It was then followed by the Principal's address. During the course of the webinar, we had talks by Mrs. Aarti Keneria PGT CHEMISTRY and Sreedharshini ( Student of Kv2, SGFI Player).

                      The message sent by the Guest of Honor, Padmashree Mr. Bhaskaran Sir was played out then. He, being an Olympian himself, was able to graciously and inspiringly explain the value and potential of Sports in India. A short film about Major Dhyan Chand was played out after his message, which managed to capture the audience with attractive visuals, ear-pleasing dialogues, and impressive short stories about Dhyan Chand. Results for various contests held the previous day was announced next, which was followed by a short video that displayed all the bright and exquisitely drawn posters that were turned in for the competition. The Program was then concluded by the vote of thanks presented by Mrs. Beula SanthaKumary, PGT MATHEMATICS. The presentation was bought to an end by 10. 15 am.

                      Previously recorded videos were used in circumstances when someone wasn’t able to participate in the webinar due to network issues. Organizing the event was met with a lot of challenges, but all of them were tackled gracefully. A lot of rehearsals were performed to conduct this event, which wouldn’t have happened if not for the co-operation and hard work of all the students, teachers, and the principal of the school. Overall, it would be apt to say that the celebration was a major success.
